Social Services This committee is intended to establish and maintain a Zakat/Charity fund that will be used for many purposes. “Alms are for the poor and the needy, and those employed to administer the (funds); for those whose hearts have been (recently) reconciled (to the truth); for those in bondage and in debt; in the cause of Allah; and for the wayfarer: (Thus is it) ordained by Allah, and Allah is full of knowledge and wisdom.” (Quran 9: 60) The purpose of this service is to give the means for Muslims in the Murfreesboro area, to use their Zakat money to help other Muslims in need in the community, nation and in the whole Muslim population world wide. The Social Committee performs the Islamic duties of the ICM with regard to the upkeep and support of those in dire need. It manages the collection of Zakat and Sadaqa and distributes it locally and internationally, especially during times of crisis. We also provide financial and other assistance where necessary. Through the ICM Support Group, volunteers can help with cooking, cleaning, transportation to medical appointments and visitation for the sick. They also provide assistance and support to women during times of crises. Without the help of Allah (swt) and the generosity of the community, this committee would not be able to function.
